Mullein & Sparrow Botanical Skincare Review

I am so excited to share with you my experience with Mullein & Sparrow beauty products! This delightfully beautiful handcrafted line of botanical, luxury, high quality, and vegan skincare products is created by a holistic esthetician and herbalist. All of the ingredients are pure, natural, plant-based, and the entire line is made with care in small batches.

The lovely gals from Mullein & Sparrow sent me a few of their products to review for you guys: Rose Blossom body oil, rose bath salts, and Rose & Frankincense Facial Serum (you almost can’t tell I’m obsessed with roses!) The packaging is sleek and simple, and all of the products came in glass jars (eco-friendly & clean- no chemical leaching, and recyclable!). My first thought was how lovely they looked, the gold and red roses look luxurious together, and just AHH so many roses! ♥

The rose bath salts come in a generously-sized glass jar with a classy and spill-proof lid (I might cry if I knocked the lid off and lost my salts!). I wasted no time trying these out! They smell beautiful as expected, and even my husband contemplated using them. The mineral-rich salts mixed with anti-bacterial rose oil and rose petals help to open up the pores and draw out toxins, and I think there is a very clear reason why roses have been used for so long in skincare. The floral scent is romantic and serene, and at the very least, you will leave the tub feeling completely relaxed. If you’re a mama like me, SAVOR that feeling!

The Rose Blossom body oil is incredibly elegant! Another generously-sized glass jar with a classy gold toned lid. The oil smells lovely, not too subtle, but not overpowering. You can rub a little on your neck, or cover your entire body in it (massage anyone?!). I slathered my whole body in this stuff after bathing and I definitely felt like a goddess- I’m pretty sure that’s what one would smell like, too! It has been a daily essential for me. If rose isn’t your thing, there are three other scents you can try out instead!

The last product I tested out was the mini Rose & Frankincense Facial Serum. This serum is nothing short of amazing! It is my favorite product of the three, with good reason. I don’t have extremely dry skin, but it dries out in the mornings after I do a wash and scrub, so I always use some sort of moisturizer or oils on my face afterwards to replenish the natural oils I wash away. I usually use a toner and then a vitamin C serum, so I swapped the Vitamin C with this serum. You apply it when your skin is damp, so you can use the facial mist by Mullein & Sparrow or any facial toner spray before applying the serum. It comes in a convenient roll-on glass bottle, and a little goes a long way. It makes your skin softer, evens out discoloration, and brings back the moisture with some amazing plant oils! Here are some of the key ingredients in the facial serum, and their uses (from the Mullein & Sparrow website):

Macadamia Nut Oil – Mimics your natural sebum and contains healthy acids to hydrate and retain moisture. Also protective and helpful for skin recovery.

Pumpkin Seed Oil – Rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Helps with hyperpigmentation and maintaining clear, blemish free skin.

Rose Geranium Essential Oil – Considered to be anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and detoxifying. Balancing for all skin types.

Rose Essential Oil – Contains essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Deeply moisturizing yet astringent and anti-inflammatory. Suitable to help with redness, inflammation, and other skin ailments.

Frankincense Essential Oil – Replenishes skin and helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles with potent antioxidant properties and cell regeneration abilities.
