Black Bean Brownies

These brownies are soft, chocolatey, and delicious! You would never guess that there is a can of beans hidden inside! But where do vegans get their protein?!



  • 1 15 oz can black beans (rinsed and drained well)
  • 3/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup sweetener* (pure maple syrup, agave, date syrup, or sugar/coconut sugar)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup+ chocolate chips


Preheat oven to 350Β°.

Blend all ingredients in food processor or blender except chocolate chips.

Pour mixture into large bowl, add in chocolate chips and stir.

Scoop into cupcake liners or lightly greased 8Γ—8 pan or muffin pan. Fill liners 2/3 full.

Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Let cool & enjoy!

*I recommend using at least half liquid sweetener. I used pure maple syrup. If you use all sugar/coconut sugar add 1/4 cup plant based milk- they may be thicker and harder to scoop, but will still turn out yummy!
